Have you ever wondered what life might have been like in one of Texas' pioneer communities? 

The Pioneer Museum complex will immerse you in the stories of the people who built this unique community. You will travel from the 1840s to the 1920s and learn how they preserved their German way of life. 

 

PIONEER MUSEUM 

A combination museum and historical site on 3.5 acres on Main Street in downtown Fredericksburg. Includes 10 historic homesteads and buildings (one-room schoolhouse, log cabin, Sunday house, bath house, barn, smokehouse) showcasing hundreds of everyday artifacts, and a fire department museum with pieces of early 20th century firefighting equipment.

The Gift Shop features a large selection of books on local as well as Texas history; gift items handcrafted by local Fredericksburg artists; children's books and old-fashioned toys.

VEREINS KIRCHE (“Society Church”)

Located in the middle of the town square (Marktplatz) just two blocks away from the Pioneer Museum grounds.

The original Vereins Kirche (demolished in 1896) was the first public building in Fredericksburg and served as a town hall, school, fort and church for all denominations. The current structure was built in 1935 and stands as a tribute to the courage and vision of Fredericksburg's founders and pioneers.

Inside the Vereins Kirche, exhibits introduce visitors to the stories of Fredericksburg's past.  Also browse through the selections of books and gift items.

PRIVATE EVENT VENUE

For your special occasion, we offer full use of our historic Sanctuary, newly remodeled Social Hall, Catering Kitchen, Bride's Room, Wagon Yard and outdoor grounds. Our historic Sanctuary can accommodate up to 300 guests. Our outdoor grounds provide several locations for your tents, tables and outdoor bar to serve your guests. 

For smaller events  parties, reunions, concerts/recitals, festivals, corporate Gatherings, we offer rates for limited grounds use.
